The Lockdown Films
In 2020, Riot Stage was gearing up to present our epic work Everyone Is Famous. We had been working on it for 2+ years and it was set to be a part of Melbourne’s Nextwave Festival/Darebin Speakeasy in May. We attended the Nextwave launch party where we ate bagels and talked about this coronavirus thing that was sweeping the world. A day later, the city went into lockdown. Our show was postponed. Unsure of what to do, we tried this new thing called Zoom to keep meeting weekly online. We decided to continue our exploration of the themes in Everyone Is Famous but using a new medium, from our bedrooms. And so, The Lockdown Films were born.
