This Kingdom is a new interactive, promenade performance created by Riot Stage and the students of Brunswick Secondary College. Over a 3 month collaboration, Riot Stage, students from the English Language Centre and students from the Drama Department explored the theme of belonging on a personal, cultural and political scale, resulting in a large scale performance that took over the entire school campus for an evening. Audience members enrolled as new citizens of this kingdom who had to traverse the site, interacting with it's inhabitants in an effort to belong. Share a meal. Solve a puzzle. Ask some questions. Equal parts intimate and confronting, the piece investigates what it means to belong to a school, to a culture, to friends and to a place.
